STREAMFLOW (measured in cubic feet per second)
Streamflows in May were in the below-normal to normal range for the entire State. Flow in Mount Hope River (NE Connecticut), Salmon River (SE Connecticut) and Pomperaug River (SW Connecticut) fell to the below-normal range after being in the normal range for 1 month. Burlington Brook (NW Connecticut), remained in the normal range for the second consecutive month. Across the State, mean streamflow for May averaged 68 percent of the May long-term median value.
GROUND-WATER LEVELS
Due to funding constraints, selected ground-water wells were not measured in May.
Four low ground-water levels were recorded during the month of May in the remaining 25 wells measured. Ground-water levels are in feet below land surface. Maximum and minimum values are from end-of-the month readings and may not be the highest or lowest recorded during the month. Statistics are based on period of record (through calendar year 2000). Ground-water level data are collected by USGS personnel and individual observers.
